Opera Alba...states its aim is "bringing opera to the people of Scotland and beyond".
This it achieves admirably, and much more.

The mix of music was excellent. The opening Brindisi from Verdi's La Traviata was a perfect introduction and the music, some familiar, some not so, flowed on courtesy of Dvorak, Mozart, Bernstein and Puccini, to name but few.

There were many highlights and these included a wonderful Soave sia il Vento from Cosi fan Tutte and the famous quartet from Verdi's Rigoletto.

Biography: Jenny Wilson-Best

JENNY WILSON-BEST was born in Chichester, Sussex, UK.

Her musical education began at Dartington College of Arts and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
From 1983 – 1988 she sang at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden performing in the chorus and undertaking many solo roles and covers. She moved to Glasgow in 1988 where she sang with Scottish Opera for five years.

Since 1993 she has been a freelance concert and opera singer performing with Covent Garden, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, London Philharmonia Singers, London Voices, Scottish Early Music Consort, the Chatelet and Palais Garnier in Paris. She has sung in the Edinburgh Festival, Savonlinna Festival in Finland, SalzburgFestival, Aix-en-Provence and at the London Proms on several occasions.

From 1995 Jenny was a regular member of the France based company, Les Arts Florissants under the direction of Willliam Christie touring all over the world, including Japan, Singapore, Hong,Kong, America and China.  She's currently freelancing with Scottish Opera, most recently appearing in The Magic Flute, and due to appear in the Flying Dutchman in the spring of 2013.
